Trying to Ball Out on a Budget

0
0
I gave myself a $1,500 bike budget but it looks like I might got way over. I need some ideas.

I need new tires, Jackets, gloves, boots and more power.

Tires- Dropping down from the factory Supercorsa SP's that come with the bike and going with Rosso III’s

Jacket - Alpinestars 2016 ATEM jacket - From what I saw this is my favorite jacket out there. What I am looking for a perforated leather Jacket, simple subtle designs, pockets on inside of jacket as well as outside and a removable liner as well also room for a back protector, all black or black & white. I don't like jackets with Big logos.

Boots - Alpinestars 2016 Supertech R Perf boots were brought to my attention but I think this is too much for my riding style, but I love the style and comfort reviews. I think I have ,and im just going by pics, Sidi Vertigo boots currently . I would like something a with a little more stiffness. All black or Black white & red

Gloves -Alpinestars GP Pro gloves were brought to me attention. Im looking for full leather glove with knuckle gaurds (which they all have) and extra padding for the palms.

Performance - Looking into getting Sai Block off plates, 2 BMC airfilters ( too impatient to wait for it to dry after cleaning & recharging) and to modify my exhaust header. If anyone knows a weld shop let me know or where I can ordering the materials I need. I'm sourcing some turners as well

The performance stuff I am piecing together little by little so I'm not in a rush.

My riding style - Only commute on the bike to save time, occasionally weekend warrior, maybe 2 track days a year.

Have no FEAR! The choice is CLEAR when it comes to GEAR.

Who makes the most durable and protective pants without compromising comfort? Ive always been a jeans rider, but protecting myself has definitely grown with age.

Gopro helmet mount and mic questions

I'm really close to having my bike ready to ride again. Not sure if I am but I was looking into some of the new gopro mounts and was wondering if anyone has some good recommendations on a helmet mount and microphone set up. I think I like the chin mounts, but again I'm just looking for now.

Thanks!

Goodwill MC gear find. ( fox, bell, icon)

Hey guys , found some gear while dropping off some donations.

I think both are size XL.

Icon mil-spec vest, a Fox Titan vest, and a Bell (3/4) helmet with clear visor, and drop down shades. Not sure what size though. All looked to be in used, but well cared for condition.

I think both jacket / vest were 59.00 each, and helmet was 35. (?) Goodwill at Stuebner airline/ 1960. Figured I'd post. Surely someone is looking for cheaper gear. Yeah, I know about used helmets, but I'm also sure some peeps dont care.

( if you want something purely classic there is a red Arai full face helmet from 1994 "Ducati" edition for 19.00 lol)

Phone wont let me post pics. Will do in a bit once i get to comp.

Helmet Upgrade opinions needed

I currently have a Sedici Strada Carbon Helmet and was thinking to upgrade for more airflow and less noise.

Secondly I want to have a good Bluetooth system either integrated in the helmet.... thoughts on those?

I was looking at the Shoei and Arai lines, but not sure if spending that much more will be a good bang for the buck.

Thoughts....

Bell Race Star - Any Feedback?

Hi All,

My Bell Star is on its last leg. Bought it in early 2014...the liner is starting to show wear and the lower rubber cover is losing its adhesive. Not insulting the helmet at all...I ride five days a week so it's been well-used...definitely got my money's worth. It's been a great helmet.

Anyway, a new lid is on the horizon. I've had three Bell helmets and liked them all. With the SP purchase coming some time before the end of the year, I want something a little more suited for the occasional track day. I'm considering throwing down some serious jingle on the Bell Race Star for my next top. I've read all the reviews and features and blah-blah.

Anybody here use one? If so, what's your take?

Race Suit Fitment

Looking for a new one piece suit, I currently have a pair of dainese pants size 44/54. They are just a tad too small, if I go dainese should I bump up to the 46/56. I'm 6'4" 220lbs 34" waist and 34"inseam. If I went with another brand like A* will I see a noticeable difference in fitment?

Small size motorcycle boots?

Looking into getting some motorcycle boots. How do I find the sizes? Other than trying some on. Are they like shoes? As never having a pair. Hight boots or low tops for my first.

Review of AC Cooler by Ryobi

This was a great idea. Instead of lugging around my heavy AC unit I bought this to see if it could double as my cooler and tent AC unit. It works but I'll probably be returning it. I wouldn't recommend unless you want it a "personal" or "by your side" unit. AC units need an exhaust or it'll never be able to keep the room cool. Still not a bad device. I just like my tent to be super cold and this won't cut it in TX heat. Even at night.

S1000RR switched power port

Fellow S1000RR riders.... i've been looking to install a usb charge port to charge the phone in the cradle as I ride.

I stumbled into a damn cool feature of the bike that's not well advertised. There is a power power under the left side fairing

Here is the plug you order...

http://www.maxbmwmotorcycles.com/fic...20413%20585%0A

It plugs in here...

As soon as I receive the part and wire everything up (from the plug to a 12v usb charger, I'll post up final comments.

Boots & Gloves - Where to find in Houston?

Where do you go to try-on and buy boots, preferrably the racing variety, in Houston? I live on the west side, near beltway 8 & Westheimer, so my normal go-to place has usually been Cycle Gear in Sharpstown...but it's kinda gone to :puke: at least in terms of gear. All they have is the crap-tastic house brands which look, fit, and feel ultra-cheap...like not really sufficiently safe cheap. They are at a considerably lower cost, but I really doubt you even get what you pay for... Does anyone around here actually stock anything, or am I just left to amazon-it, and roll the dice on fit?

Yes, that is a kid no more than 10 impersonating a squid at night

Hey but who am I to judge?

Alpinestars Suprtech boots

If any one uses these do they fit true to size. SBTG say go a size smaller. Tired of the tight fit with my Gearne boots. Great boot but bought used after loosing a boot.

What's the oldest GoPro that you own?

So, I'm about to trade in my oldest GoPro on a new 7.

It's a YHDC5170 (Original HD Hero)

I want to say I had the one before it as well as an HD Hero 2.

I also have a Hero 3+ BLACK, Hero 5 Session, Hero 6 Black, and 2-Samsung Gear 360 Cameras.

I kinda feel bad for getting rid of the original Hero, but GoPro is giving me $100 credit for it.

Anybody carry something like this. Just saw this on FakeBook. So I can't say how ligite it is. But it looks like it would easily fit in a motorcycle tool kit. Not the one that comes with the bike, but the ones most riders build for themselves.

Icon Overlord SB2 CE Women's Jacket

(Disclaimer: This review is only regarding the initial fitment. I have not ridden with this jacket yet, but plan to in a couple of days.)

This is the MOST comfortable moto jacket I've owned. They got stretch in all the right places! It's an aggressive, tight fit, but still allows a lot of movement in the arms/shoulders. It's also very figure flattering for us curvy ladies (which is difficult to find in all of the different brands of gear available). This is my first ICON piece of gear purchased. I'm sooo pleased that I'll likely look to get jeans/pants from them as well. VERY FLATTERING!

Quick details that I love about the jacket:
#1. Outside pockets are deep enough to cover my entire hand-this is not normal in the motogear that I've experienced; #2. There's plenty of stretchable material from shoulders to under arms to hips. This jacket can be tailored to fit almost any female body shape; #3. The branding/graphics are LEGITTTTT! I love the careful thought that went into integrating the Hiviz. They have one talented graphic designer; #4. I'm feeling the vented areas on the forearms that can be altered by a two-way zipper; #5. Mandarin-designed collar: LOVE THIS. A lot of collars come up really high and have velcro which can be irritable if they touch your skin; #6. D30 Armor in the shoulders, elbows and back. Very lightweight and comfortable!
